This piece was born slowly, by hand.
The silk chiffon is wrapped carefully around a pipe with cotton string…
binding parts of the fabric while leaving others open to receive the dye.
Then it’s lowered into an indigo bath.
What emerges is never exact,
lines form where the silk was held,
soft gradients where the dye was free to move.
There’s a quiet rhythm in it…
something almost like breath, or water moving.
Nothing is printed.
Nothing is forced.

A note on natural dyeing
Each piece comes from the dye bath differently.
The lines, the depth of blue, the softness of the transitions
all shaped by the way the silk was wrapped and how the dye moved through it.
No two will ever be the same.
That’s not a flaw.
It’s the point.
