We dye this silk chiffon dress by hand with secang wood, a plant that we also drink as a herbal tea. Before the silk ever meets the dye, we use an ancient resist technique...gathering tiny sections of the chiffon and binding them with rubber bands, one by one. Each small bundle holds its breath as the secang wood bleeds its warm, rosy tones into the silk slowly, over hours, pooling and blooming around the bound sections like watercolor finding its edge.
